Resolutions, Goals, and Dreaming of 2018

The end of 2017 is approaching and now is the time to set resolutions and goals for the upcoming year. Surprisingly, 2017 has been incredible to me. I have written more than ever and I have completely turned my mental and physical health around. I am determined to continue making progress in 2018 and I hope that all of you do the same! I discuss my 2017 more in my post here~

2017

Now that my year in review is out of the way it is now time to plan for 2018. I am an optimist so I can’t help but have a ton of resolutions, goals, and dreams for the upcoming year. Setting resolutions is one thing but keeping up with them is a battle and I determined to actually stick to them while crushing my goals for 2018! I am not to going to lie, picking  resolutions for the next year was actually kind of difficult. I had to sit down and really think about what I planned to accomplish next year and how these resolutions will help me meet my goals and hopefully achieve my dreams.

2018 REsolutions

My 2018 Resolutions help make me continue my journey to becoming healthier and also try to keep me from becoming a hermit. I also decided to actually try to go on more adventures and make some amazing memories in 2018. I am positive that I can stick to my resolutions and crush my goals!

2018 Goals

Goals, goals, goals! I can’t wait to crush my goals and achieve my dreams. I decided to buckle down and work hard to achieve my dreams of publishing, traveling, and living a more creative life.

2018 Goals-3

Dreams are a lot harder to reach but I am determined to achieve at least one of my dreams in 2018!

Publishing a novel has been my dream for as long as I can remember. After crushing my 2017 word count goals, I am more determined than ever to publish one if not both of my novels by the end of 2018. It is quite the mouthful but I can handle it and I can’t wait to finally share my literary worlds with everyone.
Ireland is one of the places that I have always wanted to visit. My family’s ancestors are from there and I am in love with the mythology and fairy tales that are woven into the rich history of the country. I want to visit Ireland so I can appreciate where I came from and also visit one of the towns that I am writing about in my novel.
I have been wanting to see the Grand Canyon and since I live in Texas, the drive would be excruciatingly long. Going on an epic road trip has always been on my bucket list so I want to finally cross it off by going on a journey to the Grand Canyon.

I hope ya’ll enjoyed learning more about me and that you also decide to make 2018 your year. Chase those dreams, make those important lifestyle changes, and crush all of the obstacles that stand in your way. 2018 is the year for the dreamers and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store.

Have a wonderfully literary day and I will see all of you in the new year!

Fantastic Friday!

Hello World!

This week has been amazing for me and I wanted to update y’all on my writing progress! I was stuck in this post college graduation funk that also gave me a hard-core case of writer’s block. Writer’s block is the absolute worst but I was able to fight it off and get about three chapters written this week. Writing is something that helps me relax so being able to write has really helped me accept the absence of structure that was provided by having to study for classes.

I have a special playlist that I jam out to when I get hit by writer’s block. This playlist is a playlist that contains songs that I can sing along and dance awkwardly to (because I have no dance skills whatsoever)! Here is my playlist for you to put in your writing toolbox just in case you need to have a jam session to help destroy the writing block monster:

Jam Out Playlist

I am excited that my writer’s block is no longer bothering me. Getting all of this writing done has me feeling fantastic and I can’t wait to share more progress with y’all! Now, I am off to write another post! I have been on a thriller kick lately so maybe I will create my favorite thrillers that I have read this past month!

I hope y’all have an amazing day!

Jumping Into the Unknown

Hello World!

I graduated from Texas A&M Commerce last Saturday (the 13th) and I just wanted share what I was feeling with y’all. I transferred there three years ago and  the Hall of Languages quickly became a second home to me. Dr. Adkins, Dr. Jacobs, and Dr. Roggenkamp helped me improve my writing while also causing my love of literature to evolve. It was a magical and important time in my life and I am sad that it is now over, but now it is time for me to make them proud. I am taking this year to finish my book and return  the Fall of 2018 for the Graduate Program. If I am ever feeling  lost while taking this daring adventure, I know that I can visit Texas A&M Commerce  and know that my old professors will gladly welcome me home.

I also need to give a shout out to my mentor from Eastfield, Professor Buck! Without her guidance, I wouldn’t have built up the courage to really chase my love of literature~

I can’t wait to share  the world I created with everyone and I am excited to post on here again!

Camp NaNoWriMo Plans!

Hello World!

I am officially announcing that I will be participating in this year’s Camp NaNoWriMo that starts in 10 days! Camp NaNoWrimo is hosted by the same team that hosts the National Novel Writing Month every November, the only difference is that Camp NaNoWriMo is hosted in April! The goal of participating in these fun events is to write as much as you can and hopefully finish your book!  I plan on finishing up Worlds Apart during this session and I am extremely excited!

Prep done so far:

  • Created a cool motivational playlist!
  • Updated my world bible
  • Bought a giant notebook so I can have something to write in when I am away from my computer

I really haven’t had to do much prep since Worlds Apart is something that I am currently working on. I am excited to conquer this draft so I can start editing this beautiful novel. If you are interested in learning more about this fun event then you can click here!

Well  I must end this post here because I am writing it in between classes on campus! I will probably post some more posts on here once I get home.

Happy Reading!

My Return to The Blogiverse!

Hello World!

I know, it has been a while since I have posted on my lovely blog. Good News! I am back from my little hiatus and I plan on being more active with my posting schedule!

A lot has happened since I have posted on here in December:

  •  I tried to start a fancy paid blog and I hated it so that is over.
  • My anxiety had been acting up since my major attack last May and around late January I decided that I was tired of being paranoid and crying everyday due to me feeling like I was always stressed and that the world was against me, so I finally went to the doctor and they helped me tremendously.
  • Because of my little meltdown, my schoolwork and writing life fell out of balance and to be honest I felt like I was losing control of my life so I had to get that balance back.

Everything is ok now! I have been on my medication for almost three months and I have finally regained control over my emotions and have rediscovered  the balance between school and writing again! To be completely honest, I feel rejuvenated , like I have regained my sanity and I am kicking myself of not doing this years ago. Since I am no longer stressing out, panicking, or feeling paranoid 24/7 , I can officially say that I am back! I can’t wait to share my musings with y’all!

Happy Reading!

Balancing Writing and School

Hello There!

Today I will be sharing how I have been balancing my college course work with my writing life.

I am currently in my senior year of college and I am also working on my fantasy novel so having a way to balance the course load while writing is key to keep me from getting too stressed out. I personally keep a schedule so I can remember my assignments for the classes and their due dates. The urge to write can hit you suddenly but I can not stress enough how important it is to go to class. Do not skip class for a writing urge, all it takes is one missed day to fall behind in your college courses. I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to focus but at least show up and jot down your writing in a notebook while listening to the lecture so you don’t fall behind while also writing important things for your novel.

Here is a peak into my  schedule for the days that I spend at home:

  • Wake up and  take my ADD medication while eating breakfast~
  • Do homework ~
  • Write for blog~
  • Work on Novel~

I find  this simple schedule helps me work on assignments and my writing! School can be overwhelming sometimes but it is important to know that you can do the homework and work on your novel! This balance is key to keep your from stressing and becoming discouraged. It has taken me quite some time to master this balance but I think that I have finally reached the point where I can handle school and writing. The balance can be quite tricky to master because it is different for everyone but once you find it you will be able to accomplish so much. Whether it is making a schedule, creating to do lists, or dedicating certain days for either school or writing you can find your own way to balance. This could also be applied to balancing work and writing as well!

I hope you found this post helpful and I wish you luck on your literary journey,

~Caitlin
